Today, I want to highlight a recent session with a couple that couldn’t be closer to my heart: My Nana & Pawpaw Pete. This session was beautifully personal to me because of my deep connection with these two individuals. Few people inspire me and encourage me the way my Nana & Pawpaw Pete do.

Meet my Nana & Pawpaw Pete

My Nana is a remarkable woman, whom I have admired ever since I was a little girl. She has always been my closest friend. She is a perfect example of what pure faith looks like. In her life, she faced enormous challenges. She is a breast cancer survivor. Her previous husband of 32 years, my mother’s birth father, passed away from cancer in 2003. Despite all of these heartaches and difficulties, my grandmother is only described as gracious and loving. 

Pawpaw Pete came into our lives 15 years ago, and we’re so glad he did! He is the glue that fits perfectly into our family, as if he has been my Pawpaw since day one. He is truly an amazing, funny, caring, and loving man. I’m overjoyed that my Nana has such a special partner.

Currently, my Pawpaw is fighting cancer, and we are not sure how much time we have left with him. His diagnosis has been so difficult for my family, as Pawpaw Pete is truly one of our most special gifts in life. I love him so much, and I don’t know what we would do without him. However, during this painful season, we choose to celebrate Pawpaw and soak up every precious moment we have with him. He is truly a treasure, and we honor the incredible legacy he has already created.

Now, I hope you can understand just a portion of why this photo session with my Nana and Pawpaw Pete was so special to me. I’ll cherish the photos of some of my heroes standing with my sons. My Nana and my Pawpaw are such role models and their impact on my life has been completely priceless. I couldn’t be more grateful for them.
